Michelle Olson is president and founder of Mission Point Inc., a consulting firm focused on strategic planning, vision and goal-setting, and the marketing, development, and operational practices needed to ensure long-term success. Michelle’s mission is to support the critical work of organizations that advance the world’s knowledge, including colleges and universities, schools, foundations, nonprofits, start-ups, and other entities with a related mission.
Prior to launching a successful consulting practice in 2012, Michelle served in leadership roles at the University of Chicago where she led communications, government relations, and community outreach programs and teams. Working across public and private sectors, Michelle advanced the University’s institutional efforts to engage in community and economic development issues locally, nationally, and across the globe; raise public awareness of its resources and contributions; and launch new public/private partnerships supporting K-12 education, local workforce development, cultural placemaking, STEM education and outreach, and social impact entrepreneurship.
Michelle holds a BA from Lake Forest College, a master’s in administration and public policy from the School of Social Service Administration at University of Chicago, and an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. She has additional training in focus group facilitation, spokesperson training, and leadership coaching.
